If you park in B&Q Car Park in Neath Please be aware that although there is NO person walking around booking cars for over stay, There is a camera there and it is booking people if you are over the 1 Hour stay, and you will get a £50 fine in the post. Now i know this as i know some who has been done & more than once, so please be aware ;)

If you spend less than 1 hour you'll be fine but if you return within 4 hours with the same car to say exchange something or buy something else you'll be booked!!

The first letter you receive will demand £80 but if paid with x days it will only cost you £50, this is the con which many are falling for and this needs to highlighted and stopped. B&Q don't give a S**T but YOU should!!

If you do not pay the £50 or £80 you'll then receive the £110 demand soon to follow will be the debt collection agency letter.

The company that runs this scam is a private company and under law, private companies cannot fine anyone! Even though they threaten court action, they will not take you to court as they have no case and cannot demand you pay the fine. They use nothing more but scare tactics!!

I've heard numerous storey the past couple of weeks. A 70+ year old lady called into the Neath B&Q to get something for her house, she wasn't there long but realised a little later the same day she needed something else and the return trip to buy more goods cost her the letter for £80 but she unfortunately paid the £50 as there was no way she could afford the £80 (i've been told) and was very upset over it, she was in tears over it. No pensioner can afford that!! If you pay, you'll not get it back even if it was a genuine visit to B&Q.

If you get stung and you used the car park in a genuine capacity, ignore the letters and DO NOT make contact with them. They cannot take you to court and you DO NOT have to pay anything. Just google around and you'll see lots of similar storeys with the same advice.

I also know people that have gone to B&Q Neath to spend 1000's on a kitchen and how do they get repaid??? By one of their scam parking fines! Go figure!!

Although B&Q do not own or run the company that is scamming locals, B&Q have to agree and accept their polices and if B&Q are happy to do this to their customers then sod them, I for one will NOT be using B&Q again. There are lots of alternative companies and builders merchants that would love your business and would never think of scamming their customers.

As a final note, the people that have had these problems, once complained to B&Q (not the park & scam, never make contact with them) they promise the world to help you but do nothing to help. I'm not sure they can even do anything, scamming people is how this company make their money so the scare tactics is their business model! These poor consumers continue to receive the threatening letters just for shopping at B&Q!!!!

Now, have a good hard think, would you seriously consider ever using B&Q and their car parks again??? This can and probably will happen to you at some point if you do.

I've also been told B&Q in Llansamlet are doing the same and i've also seen reports that PC World and MacDonalds are also charging their customers in this same SCAMMY way.
